Stockton has over a dozen full service grocery stores. Several grocery stores have in-house bakeries, florists, balloons, and deli's for quick, one-stop shopping.
Stockton is where the Black's stores, Green Frog, Centromarts, Don Quick, Gaines, and a
Save-Mart (a local chain with nothing to do with the Modesto Modesto, San Jose
and Fresno Save-marts), originated The larger Modesto Save-Mart grocery chain
also opened stores in Stockton during the 1970s, however they could not use the
Save-Mart name, but used the Food Bank and S-Mart names, and subsequent have
become Stockton's largest acquiring abandoned markets from Albertsons, Fry's and
Lucky stores. Dollar General has acquired the Centro-Mart Stores, Walmart has
two stores with groceries and is opening a Walmart Neighborhood Market -

There's also a terrific year-round farmers' market held Saturdays under the
freeway on Washington Street, where you can buy the usual local produce as
