In 1978 two guys with a great recipe for deep dish pizza opened the first BJ’s in Santa Ana, California. The pizza was an immediate hit and,
as years went by, new BJ’s restaurants were opened in beach cities along Southern California’s coastline. In 1996, with seven restaurants in
operation from San Diego to Los Angeles, the first BJ’s brewery began production in their new restaurant in Brea, California. The introduction
of fine handcrafted beer was welcomed by guests and the newly renamed BJ’s Restaurant & Brewery concept was launched. New menu items and
new beers have been added through the years as the BJ’s brand has expanded across the U.S. -

Buffalo Wild Wings - 4751 Pacific Avenue - Buffalo Wild Wings was founded in 1981 after James Disbrow, then living in Buffalo, New
York, came to Kent, Ohio to judge an amateur figure skating competition at Kent State University in 1981. He met up with his friend, Scott
Lowery, and went looking for a place to get authentic Buffalo-style chicken wings. Unable to find one, they decided to open up their own
restaurant, first in Columbus, Ohio, and then in Westerville, Ohio one year later. Originally called Buffalo Wild Wings & Weck, from which
the abbreviation BW3 was created, the restaurant became a franchise; as of December 27, 2009, it had 652 locations (232 directly owned by the
company, and 420 franchised locations) across 45 U.S. states. - Buffalo Wild Wings Website |

Carls Jr - 7432 Pacific Avenue - in the Hammer Ranch Center - In 1941 Carl Karcher and his wife, Margaret Karcher, borrowed
$311 on their Plymouth automobile and purchased a hot dog cart. One cart grew to four, and in less than five years, they owned a restaurant
with hamburgers on the menu in Anaheim, California called Carl's Drive-In Barbecue. In 1956, Karcher opened the first two Carl's Jr.
restaurants in Anaheim, California and Brea, California; so named because they were a smaller version of his drive-in restaurant. In 1997,
CKE Restaurants acquired Hardee's, a restaurant chain with 2,500 locations in the Midwest, South and East Coast regions. Hardee's restaurants
are gradually being converted to be more like Carl's Jr. CKE Restaurants, Inc. acquired Santa Barbara Restaurant Group (the parent company of

- Chucks Hamburgers - 6034 Pacific Avenue, Stockton Ca, 95207 - Coffee Shop. Joey Marengo first opened the restaurant in 1950.
It was called the Yummy Yum Cafe. In 1953 or so, a family bought it and called it Paul's. They had it for about 2 years or so, then in 1955
our very own Orley May from Orley's Hot Beef Sandwich shop bought it and his sons Fred and Doug ran it for about 4-5 years, then sold it to
Buck and Dale. They had a tough time keeping it working so they asked Orley to help them build it up again. This is where we came in. My
Father was working for Fibreboard paper mill and one day I guess my Father and Mother heard Buck and Dale say that they wanted to sell, so
need I say more... We have been here since 1960. - Chucks Hamburgers Website |

Hackbarth and David Jameson. On the first official day of business, Del Taco made $169. Success of the first restaurant led to two in Barstow,
one in Needles, and a fifth restaurant in Corona (the first Del Taco with a drive-thru window). Dick Naugle, who installed the kitchen
equipment in the Corona store, was impressed by the design and joined Hackbarth and Jameson in the fledgling business. In 1966, the trio
founded Red-E-Food Systems, Inc. with the idea of franchising the Casa Del Taco brand. That same year, the original Del Taco sun logo was

Denny's - Charter Way, Pacific Avenue, Waterloo Rd - Richard Jezak and Harold Butler founded Denny's (as Danny's Donuts) in Lakewood,
California in 1953. Denny's expanded to twenty restaurants by 1959, when the chain was renamed Denny's to avoid confusion with another chain,
"Coffee Dan's". The business continued to grow and by 1981, there were over 1,000 restaurants in all 50 U.S. states. In 1977,
Denny's introduced the still-popular Grand Slam breakfast. All but six Denny's closed for the first time ever on Christmas 1988; many of the
restaurants were built without locks, and some had reportedly lost their keys Denny's now operates over 1,600 restaurants. -

Denny's 4747 Pacific Avenue - Between 1982 and 1989, the number of Sambo's restaurants in North America went from roughly 1450
restaurants to just one. With franchises going out of business, since they were unable to afford the costs of redesign and restructuring, the
franchise fees for the chain stopped coming in. As a result, the chain was unable to promote itself and thus even well-managed individual
restaurants went out of business. Denny's, another restaurant chain with a similar target niche, made a name for itself in 1984, when it
purchased roughly 800 of the Sambo's franchises and rechristened them as Denny's. By 1989, only the original Sambo's (then called Sam's) in
Santa Barbara remained. Denny's Website - Pacific Avenue |
